L’ICAF FESTIVAL (Japan), WITH Hiromi ITO.
ICAF (Inter College Animation Festival) is one of the only festivals in Japan recommended by the educational institution, screening and allowing students majoring in animation to have an opportunity to run their art work in public. At the same time, ICAF is a revitalization for the schools which holds animation programs and also a promoting event for the art of animation. Farther on, it’s a place to discover and grow the talented artists that will soon be working internationally all over the world to spread and share the precious art of animation.
“I am very honored for the screening of the ICAF selection in “Les e•magiciens”. “ICAF2009” is the only animation festival in Japan for students studying animation, and this year we held the 7th of the series. Sixteen schools from all the country participated with very distinctive works. From these works we further selected some to from a special program for “e•magiciens”, which include a wide and rich variety of themes and techniques.
I hope you all enjoy a program full of the power of the young.” Tokumitsu Kifune, ICA F2009 Festival Director

CG ANICUP (Japan), with Yutaka KAMADA.
“CG anime contest” is the most long-established contest in Japan, intended for indie label CG animation, and organized every year from 1989. Since the peek number of application exceeded 600, it has grown to the largest contest in Japan. And also turned out many creators succeeded in the world. This year, “CG anime contest” tied up with “e•magiciens”, invited 5 successful competitors at “e•magiciens” last year, and organized a new event “CG animation cup: Friendly match between France and Japan” at Kyoto in Japan, which shows the winning animations of “e•magiciens” and that of “CG anime contest” alternately. “I hope the creators in France and Japan boost exchanges, encourage each other through these events, and then great animations and talented creators come into the world.” Yutaka KAMADA.
