Art

In collaboration with Bandits-Mages and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts du Havre

While traditional video is slowly disappearing from the flow of images available, the art of video is a genre taught in higher learning artistic schools. Teachers who are pertinent analysts of their era, know full well how much this genre in the history of art has been runaway. It has recently become diversified, losing its specificity and disappearing because of the manifold uses of cameras as well as the diversity of broadcasting modes. It will have lasted thirty years. These years already require an anamnesis in order to make reappear forgotten writings because they were only distributed back then, for this reason I would suggest visiting Alain Longuet’s website to discover the history of the Grand Canal (http:// grandcanal .free.fr) that holds a large diversity of works created by French pioneers.

The video often appears under the word “images / movement”, which resumes the anglo saxon idea of “motion pictures”. Often to be more precise, as far as the reality of practices in the school of arts; for they are numerous, from the performance to the experimentation, from fiction to documentary, from cartoon to the mark of the event, the categories are transitional. With an epistemological and experimental content in mind, the e.magiciens have felt the need to open themselves to Art schools, asking the Bandits-Mages festival to coordinate the hit list
of Art schools.
